Let’s get today’s weigh-in out of the way…
A mere 21.2 pounds away from capturing the unicorn. After a lot of waffling I have finally settled on one golden number: 127 pounds. It is near the top of the healthy weight range for my height, but I have to account for my bulging muscles, of course. And my thighs.
Last year, I was sure that I’d reach goal in 2012 with months to spare. But looking back at my weigh-in history, it has taken me EXACTLY 5 months to lose 21.2 pounds. That included my June and July nutrition disasters, but everyone knows it’s even harder to lose when there’s a relatively small amount of weight to go. With just over 12 weeks left in the year, goal is likely out of reach, but I can at least try to break into the 130s. And if not? No big deal.
As we all know, the number on the scale is only one chapter in the epic novel of health and fitness. Perhaps what’s most important, over weight and body fat percentage, is how you look on the inside. Literally. I went in for my annual physical, labs, and blood tests (and a really painful tetanus shot- OW!) and compared them to the labs taken by the weight loss clinic in May of 2011.
|Test Name||5/4/11||10/4/12||Reference Range|
|Cholesterol, Total||198||159||125-200 mg/dL|
|HDL Cholesterol||54||74||> or = 46 mg/dL|
|LDL Cholesterol||121||66||<130 mg/dL|
|CHOL/HDLC Ratio||3.7||2.1||< or = 5.0|
This is the first time I’ve ever compared test results, or even looked at them in depth. I had always relied on my doctor saying “you passed, but just barely.” All I needed to know were the first two words and I continued on like I was fine. I did pretty well this time around I think. Woohoo, health!
And just for fun, a panorama shot of the dojo.
